I'm Bianca. Ex corporate lawyer who took a redundancy on maternity leave and never looked back.
But the story starts earlier than that.
I had so many business ideas that had to die a slow death because there was nowhere to take them and no one to cheer me on the journey. The admin felt heavy. Marketing, PR, grants, loans, how to promote myself. I learned everything alone, through research and late nights and a lot of trial and error.
And then I started connecting with friends. Mums who were building things. Women juggling school runs and invoices and big dreams and self-doubt. And that's when it hit me.
We need the village. And we don't have one.
So I built it.
Why I left corporate
Corporate was something I was genuinely good at. But it was also something that slowly cost me my time, my space and my sanity.
The truth is that a 9 to 5 is not built for mums, not unless you have a sound support system in place. Grandparents nearby. A partner who can carry equal weight. For those of us who are expats, that support simply doesn't exist. And even when the system is in place, the pressure remains. The job always comes first. And I reached a point where I didn't want to live inside that narrative anymore.
The redundancy on maternity leave was the push I didn't know I needed.
What I wish someone had told me then — stop trying to mould yourself onto a system that was never built for you. Your creative side is not a distraction. It is the direction. I would have built Founded by Mums years earlier if someone had said that to me.
What I hope this becomes
I hope Founded by Mums becomes the anchor that many mums need when they want to build something and don't know where to start.
The village that cheers on every small win, because those small wins matter more than anyone tells you.
A real network of women who refer each other, collaborate with each other and genuinely want to see each other succeed.
A repository of good, honest information about grants, sole trader and limited company guidance, financial experts, marketing and PR strategy, loans, legal basics. Everything I had to find myself, now in one warm and trusted place.
This is just the beginning. And I know exactly where it's going.
